Is mobile commerce the next big thing? Will we all be shopping and doing business on our smart phones hours a day like they do in Japan? Although M-commerce has been around the world for more than a decade, Portland based technology startup Mowbi thinks it's right around the corner for mass adoption here in America. Mowbi has a suite of integrated m-commerce apps that can help businesses launch a mobile presence quickly and inexpensively, and more in the pipeline to stay ahead of the competition. Mowbi president, Jordan Denning, says they have yet to talk to a business that could not make profitable use of one or more of their tools, from mobile stores for retailers and traveling sales people to mobile invoicing for contractors and text marketing for real estate agents. Their software is powering directory apps for the Freeport Merchants Association, Portland Magazine and soon the Maine Magazine. They are also offering a free personal mobile site app, Mowbi Connect, to help keep all of your social media links accessible and visible from anywhere. Will Mowbi become Portland's Twitter? Check your phone soon to find out.
