Erin Curren

I facilitate joy in the body

Job Nia teacher, Playback performer, emboldener / CTN5, Community Television Network

Lives In Westbrook

A native of New York City, Erin has been living in the Portland area since 2006, right around the time she started bejazzleing her "Gypsy Crib"  (a plastic gemstone studded, tassled, black-and-white-bumper-stickered Subaru) often spotted near the action.

In 2008 Erin discovered NIA ("knee-ah"), a movement practice that blends the martial arts with dance and yoga. Destined to teach, Erin expanded her subject matter from the French language arts to the body language arts, and continues to embolden her students to live courageously and joyfully in their bodies.

Today. Erin performs on First Fridays with Portland Playback Theatre, an improvisation troupe that honors individuals' real-life experiences by "playing back" their stories using movement, music and voice.

Erin loves Portland's waterfront trail systems, and has logged many a mile in preparation for the Maine (2006) and New York City (2010) marathons. Though she occasionally pines for the grit and speed of the A train, Erin remains blissfully aware of just how fortunate she is to live and work in this part of the country.
