Job Senior Marketing Designer / Eastland Shoe
Lives In North Deering, Portland
Currently, I live in Portand, Maine, where I landed almost 20 years ago. With my husband and small daughter, we love to explore and enjoy all that Maine has to offer.
I chose Portland simply because I have always loved Maine and formed roots as a child traveling here year-round with my family, mostly for quick get-aways. I also chose Portland for its strong and vibrant art-centric culture and community, beautiful and varied nature, and lastly its abundant, vast and progressive culinary offerings.
For the last 5 years, I have been working at Eastland Shoe as a Senior Marketing Designer. Eastland Shoe has been handcrafting heritage-inspired footwear since 1955.
Why did you choose Portland? I chose Portland simple because I have always loved Maine and formed roots as a child traveling here year-round with my family, mostly for quick get-aways. I also chose Portland for its strong and vibrant art-centric culture and community, beautiful and varied nature, and lastly its abundant, vast and progressive culinary offerings.
Who are Portlanders you admire and why? Anyone running a local business that supports the local economy, arts culture and people. They are the building blocks of this great little city and without that, Portland wouldn't exist as it is today.
What do you like to do with out-of-towners? Getting out on a boat or ferry to see the Islands of Casco Bay.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? The Eastern Promenade. Running Back Cove.
What's the most surprising thing about this city? Its continued growth. It's great.
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Sushi at Miyake. Coffee at Tamden. Bread at Standard Baking.
What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? Steamers at J's Oyster. I am not sure if this is really an under-appreciated establishment, I'm just glad it has been a Portland staple for many years.
Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. Head out on a First Friday to see some art and walk around town with my husband. Hit-up Miyake for the chef's tasting menu for dinner. Then, head home to meet up with friends for drinks and a little fire-pit action in the yard. Next morning: Go to One Fifty Ate in South Portland for breakfast to bring to eat at the beach.
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Oxbow Brewing. Any brewery, actually.
I am the general manager of Avnt Dance and Event Center... home of G-Tric Dance Crew and Portland's annual Zombie Flash Mob.
