Lives In Westbrook

I'm a proud Midwesterner who moved here via DC. My husband and I made the leap to Portland for the fresh air, creative people, affordable living, family friendliness-- and we definitely found it. I'm a former photojournalist and lifetime news junkie. I'm obsessed wtih thrift stores and did a documentary project called All Thrifty States (www.allthriftystates.com) on thrift culture in America across all 50 states. One reason I loved this area so much was when I visited for the project, I found the people here to be very thrifty, reusing adn recycling items as a regular part of daily life. I love the vibe here, the arts, the events, the spirit of being outside, and the peace of being near the water and mountains. I'm excited to get to know the craft community here and explore all the curiosities Maine has to offer.

Why did you choose Portland? People here are creatives who aren't afraid to push boundaries or take chances. They recognize that big cities don't necessarily equal a better life. They appreciate good food, great art, small living, and the outdoors.

What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? The Picnic Craft Fair! It's easily one of the best in the country!
