Setting the standard for web from Portland

Job Principal / plein air interactive

Lives In Cumberland

Rob is the principal of plein air interactive, an award-winning interactive agency that works exclusively with museums to advise on digital marketing strategy, web design, mobile apps, custom web development and e-commerce.

He speaks at conferences throughout the year. His work has been discussed in national publications such as Museum magazine.

Rob's company, previously known as Pemaquid Communications, was the first tech firm to receive an entreverge award for innovative, entrepreneurial leadership. He won the award for starting the city's first coworking space.

His agency was the first in Maine to develop a Facebook app, the first to use and advise on social media, and his firm has been nominated for more techMaine Best of the Web awards (10) than any other agency in Maine.

Why did you choose Portland? The Portland area is full of creative people, and it's a wonderful mix of urban sophistication and breathtaking natural beauty. The whole atmosphere is conducive to inspiring creativity.

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I like to charter a boat and take people on a twilight cruise past the Portland Head and the other lighthouses in Casco Bay. That's followed up by a dinner including everyone's favorite crustacean at the Portland Lobster Company, located right on the waterfront.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? I have several, but I like to hang out at Think Tank, the coworking space on Congress Street, because of all the creative tech people I bump into there. The Portland Museum of Art is another place that makes me happy.

Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. That's classified. Not even the NSA knows!

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Think Tank, Bard Coffee, Crema.
